Why not try and create something beautiful today?
Sunday is the beginning of the week for some, the end for others, and a great day to make something new. Sunday, being the day of the Sun, as the name of the first day of the week, is derived from Egyptian astrology, where the seven planets, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury and the Moon, each had an hour of the day assigned to them, and the planet which was regent during the first hour of any day of the week gave its name to that day. So today, we should celebrate the sun. The sun gives all things in our planet life. It warms us, and feeds our plants, it gives us energy, and lifts our spirits.
I will consider this today while I am painting. I will let the sunshine in and land on the canvas, alighting the iridescent sheen of my new gold paint, and igniting the life I hope to create in this piece.
The theme for this piece is Hindu-inspired Duality in the form of Shiva Shakti, laced with an eastern influence. I have been doing much research on the theme of duality since LunoSol’s first edition of Duality in May of this year. The idea of balance through opposing forces is intriguing, and something we can see in our day to lives. When we are lacking in this balance, we struggle and suffer. If we focus too much on one or another aspect of duality, we fear, resent, or even long for the other. I find it difficult to truly appreciate one aspect of life without the existence of its extreme opposite.
For a long time, India has been calling to me, as a place of mystery, magic, art, and music. The Goa-Trance movement began on the beaches of India, and I feel a return to it’s roots is long overdue, at least within my own journey. LunoSol has decided to celebrate this culture with an Indian inspired set of decor for this edition of Duality, and by naking the event “India Calling”. We will feature the Goa-Trance inspired music from the old school ledgend “Boom Shankar”, of BMSS Records, who will join us from Germany to play an extended set for this celebration.
This current piece, being created for the backdrop of the stage design, will feature a Mandala in its centre, representing the origin of life, of all things, and the root. For us this may be the root of psychedelic trance, or more broadly, as the root of life. This Mandala is being precisely designed and drawn by Janik Mamadov, my partner in LunoSol and in life. We will use this same manada as the canopy design to be features over the dancefloor at th event.
To dramatically represent Duality, as I am experiencing it most acutely today, I have chosen the Divine incarnations Shiva and Shakti, representing male and female duality. There gaze will drift outwards, to a landscape of Himalayan mountains, surrounded by vibrations of the elements of fire, earth, air and water.
This peice will be shown at LunoSol’s Next event in Montreal, on the 19th of December, 2015, at Nomad Nation Film Studio. For More infromation on the venue, follow this link: Nomad Live.

Today, this is my inspiration. I will use the energy I have absorbed from the Sun during my brisk walk in Montreal’s downtown. I am grateful to be here again, and to share my creative energy with the people of this great city, the tribe members of our psychedelic trance community, and the many incarnations of the universal life force that moves through us all.
